For half a second I thought I'd lost my writing notebook. For half a second I almost had a panic attack large enought to consume me whole . . .

Do you keep a writing notebook? Mine is a red spirax one from Target, with hard covers and spiral binding down the side. (Binding down the side is better than binding up the top when you're left handed.) My favourite biros fit nicely in the spiral.

I carry it with me everywhere usually (forgot it today which was A Bad Thing. (Capital B, Capital T) )In it there are random pieces of writing including original fiction and fan fiction. (No poetry. It's been a long time since I wrote a poem I was even half satisfied with.) My fandoms include: West Wing, Harry Potter, Angel, Buffy, M*A*S*H, Baby Sitters Club and Sweet Valley High (Liz's fault, blame her). I seem to write a fair bit of slash, which is funny, because I've only ever finished two slash stories . . .

I keep too many. There's the first one, the original one, which has the itinerary (it's not an outline, it's just a list of places and times and half of them don't even go in the story) for the X-Files story I haven't finished and some scenes out of it, and some drabble. And there's the red one, the one with my last attempts at a new B5 fic. And the lit notebook turned writing notebook 'cause I never listened in that class anyway. And the two new ones I'd pulled off the shelf and started to carry. And the one I used for NaNo last year and now use for everything else. And the block of legal paper I wrote 1.3 Ounces on, and most of There In The End, and it seemed that just the change from a spiral notebook to a legal pad inspired me because I wrote a lot at once then. And the falling apart math paper block that has binding and neat tear lines and three holes (here binders have two, so that's rare) that seems to always host vignettes, but the sheets fall out and after a while I tire of keeping them and throw them out.

And I never leave the house without one. Sometimes I do, and that's bad, and then I borrow paper or write on napkins. Anything. Because at least I always have a pen. That's something.

Wow, I wrote a lot. ;)
