Thoughts . . .
Jul. 18th, 2003 07:27 amYesterday, the Uniting Church voted to allow congregations to choose homosexual ministers if they so wished. There's a story here This has prompted some conservative members to talk about mass walk out.
For a variety of reasons, I haven't been to church for a few years (mostly because I haven't been able to find a congregation that suit me and I've spent a lot of years working on Sundays), but I still regard myself as a member of the Uniting Church. And as uninvested as I am right now, I can't imagine wanting to deliberatly hurt my church.
Of course, my thoughts are influenced by the fact that I agree with the decision. I've been looking for a good congregation near me since I settled into my new place, but I think this will probably influence me to move faster. I don't think I'll be the only one.
