I'm an Ancient Historian (it says so on my degree).
I think you all know that I don't agree with the war. I didn't agree with it on September 12, 2001 or October 13, 2002. I don't agree with it now, as I watch 'free people' show their appreciation with violence - towards icons, property and their fellow people.
I've had to explain to six and seven year olds what war is and why it's on their televisions.
Now I'm sad that the world went and lost its history.
I'm sad that we just let it happen.
Please read this and this
But hey, we won the war didn't we . . . ?

on 2003-04-14 07:07 am (UTC)I just remember learning about Mesopotamia back in grade nine, and discovering then that I really loved Ancient History - enough to put the better part of three years into it.
I suppose I'm mourning for our history

on 2003-04-14 09:39 am (UTC)I saw a quote at the Nation by a soldier saying, essentially "I don't know if they are happy that we "liberated" them, or just happy to get free tvs and furniture."
