Walking, cleaning and a minor grumble
Apr. 7th, 2003 10:21 amWent for an hour long, four kilometre walk this morning. It was lovely, with the first part going past a nice brook and the second part along a road (harder to get lost). Very enjoyable and repeatable.
Also applied for two jobs this morning. I was going for three, but the thrid one required flash, which my computer won't support, so I decided I didn't want to walk for them after all *g*
And, I've done some cleaning. Washed the dishes, tidied the living room, the kitchen and part of my room and put a load of washing on. Very domesticated today.
Also, loving the silverlake lurkers challenge at the moment. There's lots of good fiction out there at the moment, and I'm keeping a record for feedback purposes.
A minor request/grumble:
I've noticed a bit of university bitching. Is this at all avoidable? Or can you put it behind a filter that excludes me? It makes me grumpy and I don't like that.
I admit that I've made jokes about other universities - and my old university as well (How many UQ students does it take to change a light bulb? One. The world revolves around them.) But the reality is, in this day and age, with the changes that we face in education - most people will have to attend more than one university. The government is trying to cut down on institutions having the same courses - and with the need for post graduate studies to achieve anything, you may find yourself in a place you have bitched about.
So can it, please. Or hide it, so I don't have to see it. I'm not up to having to defend my old university at the moment.

on 2003-04-06 08:50 pm (UTC)I don't like it how UQ students try and snub Griffith students when they only have three campuses (including one in Ipswich for godsake) and they barely even delve into such things like screen production!
So if people stop calling Griffith "Grifftafe" I'll be very happy, because Griffith is much better and realistic when it comes to jobs, and Tafe is probably even better!

on 2003-04-06 10:29 pm (UTC)Please, filter that kind of talk to avoid me.
(BTW - UQ also has the school of dentistry, the Medical school, the Mining school and a campus in Far North Queensland. Simarlerly, QUT has a campus at Caboolture and was pivitol in setting up and running Sunshine Coast University)

on 2003-04-07 05:54 am (UTC)In my opinion, uni means nothing, it's the profession at the end that is important. Same goes for public/private schools, the same sort of elitism applies there too.
