Is it just me or are both sides of the daylight saving argument REALLY STUPID?

You think you have it bad, I live on the Gold Coast (southern end), so that is ALL we hear about. No drought, no people being killed - no, all the news is concerned with is the fact that some morons in the area can't adjust the time IN THEIR HEAD by ONE FREAKING HOUR!

Discretion being the better part of valour, I'll just say this (having deleted a rather more heated comment):

I lived in Wodonga when Victoria and NSW went to DST on different dates. What I remember was three weeks of chaos either end of summer with people trying to get their kids to after-school appointments on time: which were usually while the kids were still supposed to be IN school. What a relief when we finally synchronised!

(And it will be even better when we synchronise with Tassie this year or next - no more "one hour earlier in Tasmania" on the radio every fifteen minutes.)

I like Daylight Savings and if we're going to have it, let's minimise the number of different timezones across Australia. For starters so I don't have to spend all summer knowing that you are an hour out - in some direction or other - from me. What if Spooks were on during daylight saving? (As I think it was in season 2 - and West Wing last year. Spoils all our fun.)

I don't really care if we do or don't, our sunsets will still be earlier than yours, though it would be nice to be on the same time as the other states. But as far as I can see the arguments are 1)same time or not same time and 2) more daylight at one end of the day or the other - and the campaigners come up with such silly silly arguments *g*

I expect we'll go through the motions of the argument as well in a month or so's time when the clocks change here.

i'm against it - Not that it'd cause a huge fuss either way - But I like it being dark ... Suns a bitch - specially when you're out working in it every day ...

One arguement I've read was good for the against - It means kids would be getting out at 2pm instead of 3 ... meaning in stronger sun ... It'd be interesting if they do bring it in Qld wide - Whether Sun cancer rates rise ..
