HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] lizbee - have Doctor Who thoughts . . .

So I kinda watched 4 episodes of Doctor Who yesterday (up to Dalek) while working on report cards and I now have 'thoughts'. Rose thoughts and Doctor thoughts and 'my God those Daleks can elevate' thoughts.

Rose is interesting. She's young, with characteristics you might expect in a 15 or 16 year old, rather than a 19 year old. I wonder about the reasons for this immaturity - it it her mother's influence? Is it her education? Is it just naturally her? It effects the way she interacts with people around her, the decisions she makes, the way she attaches herself to potentially dangerous things, and becomes a danger to the people around her.

She's curious, and not in a particularly good way. She had a tendency to leap in feet first without the knowledge or thought the Doctor occasionally brings (those two are really alike when it comes to curiosity). The flip side of her curiosity is her tendency to blame the Doctor when things go wrong.

Despite her failings, Rose is curiously likable. There is 'love' between her and the Doctor - they're not neccessarily 'in love' at this stage, but there is a mutual feeling between them.

Anyway, enough rambling for now. What am I going to teach today?

I think you should teach YOUR FACE!

(Predictable? Oh so very. :D)

I think you should teach your mother's face.

(So much fun. It's too cold for anything else)

You're going to teach about how I'm awesome?

You may find that elements of Rose's personality fall into place when I mention that she was originally written and played as 17. She was aged up to 19 at the last minute, when the producers saw the UST between her and the Doctor.

Which explains why they're constantly telling us that she's 'only 19'

I'm hoping to get another episode in tonight . . . (so totally becoming addicted)

Random and unrelated to Who comment: you know your Ruth "sing" icon... did you do your own screencapping for that? I'd love to have an icon made from the scratch Requiem scenes (given that I'm doing another one this weekend - Verdi, this time, so no danger of crying during the Lacrimosa) but my regular source of screencaps hasn't done that ep yet. Do you know of anyone who has?

I've capped that ep - unfortunately that was the episode I realised the best way to cap them, so half are decent, and half are strange. I can send you some if you like *g*

Found you from who_daily.

In Rose right before she saves the Doctor, she says "I've got no A levels. No job. No future, but I tell you what I have got." and something about a gymnastics team. I'm pretty sure A levels are high school graduation requirement testing dealie.

And you see the changes (her growth) based on her experiences and how it affects the decisions she makes. ^__^
