1. How long have you been dancing and what prompted you to set up your own dance school?
Unlike a lot of my students, I wasn't able to learn dancing until I was 6 (right at the end of 1987) - so I've been dancing since January 1988 - 19 years.
In January 1999, a friend of the family mentioned that they'd love to have a dancing school that was affordable in our small town. With all the nerve and ambition of a 17 year old, I said I'd do it. We're now in our 9th year, I've taught over 70 students, I have 7 classes every Saturday and I love it. Thank goodness for 17 year old nerves.
2. What's your favourite Australian show from your childhood?
Most of my favourites were American (Fraggle Rock!) But I can't go past 'It's a Knockout' and 'Young Talent Time'
3. Does being a teacher make you wonder why any teacher would want kids of their own? ;)
After yesterday (tears and recriminations) I'm in two minds *g* There are always good moments in the classroom - when you get through to the child who's been a behaviour issue; when the students just 'turn it on', when they cry because they don't want to leave your class - that make teaching worthwhile and remind you exactly what you're doing there. I think parent-teacher relationships are worse - the kids are much easier to deal with than parents are ;)
4. If you could have a super power, what would it be?
The ability to leave a tidy, organised life. Boring but helpful. Or the ability to dance like a Prima Ballerina, a tap maesto and a Broadway star . . .
5. Favourite TV couple (requited or not)?
Oooh - this is probably hardest. My gut says CJ and Toby. But then Hawkeye/Margaret. And Donna/Josh. And Wash/Zoe . . . ooooh! Too hard! *g*
