I really didn't think I'd be able to trawl the hole internet to find my favourite stories, so I found some of my favourite WW fan fic to give their first lines.
"You spend a great deal of time staring at your palms." Amen by Ellen M.
"In retrospect, she will think that it is amazing what exactly she will do after a few too many drinks. She will be surprised that the bartender talked her into something called a limelight, bitter and sweet with vodka and melon liqueur. She will recall with delight and a touch of chagrin the feeling of smooth flesh under unsure hands." Lime Light and Slow-dancing by Ellen M.
"It is somehow much colder than it looks, and her skin is almost numb from the breeze that's been blowing all night. She's in the car, and she's on the phone, and she's trying to worry about Galileo, and trying to take notes about the Russian missile silo, and Sam is sitting looking dreamily out the window." Smooth Like Glass by Ellen M
"It was Mandy all over, except that nobody liked Mandy much, and it was past her time anyway." Again, With the Music by Teanna
"Her fingers are cold on a glass filled with orange liquid. Her hands are cold but her cheeks are warm. Glowing perhaps. She lifts her fingers to her cheek and smoothes them down her face. Condensation has formed on the glass and her fingers leave a wet trail from her cheekbone to her neck." Eyes Grow Feet by CGB
"She'd always been an open book. Words, phrases, ideas, inspirations, tattooed her skin, visible to those granted access to her collection." Athenaeum by Katrina McDonnell
"It's time." In Parting by Marguerite
"Disaster." The Red Shoes by Marguerite
"It happened in a thunderous roar that obliterated the storm outside, happened in a hail of questions and gasps to rival the fury of nature, happened with the flashing lights of a hundred cameras blinding everyone to the possibility of failure." Sons, Prodigal and Otherwise by Marguerite
"Rhythm. Rhythm. The beat of a heart, distorted, magnified through electronics until it fills the room. It's a welcome sound. It speaks to you." Percussion by Marguerite
"Your father used to wrap you both up, his boys, one on each side of him to guard you against the chilly Brooklyn winds. He smelled of cigars, even on the Sabbath when smoking was forbidden, because it was part of the fabric - warp and woof and tobacco. In shul you'd be sheltered under the rough linen of his prayer shawl. On the street he'd see his sons running up to him and he'd open his coat to make a cocoon for you and David, his boys, his boys." Fraternity by Marguerite
I'm sure there'll be more to come after this - but it's a start.
Work this morning. Found out that I've been promoted. To quote Snape in Tearstains - "So this is promotion". I'm now a shift leader. I will soon have my own key etc, and possibly an oatmeal coloured shirt.
Also sent on a delivery for work - a nice half hour walk while being paid. Gotta love that.
Buffy last night was amazing. But will save up thoughts on it until I get to see Angel tonight (must ration LJ posts)
