melwilI had to bite my tongue hard today in the school staffroom. A whole bunch of 'older' (40's - 50's) teachers talking about the news and basically sprouting the most racist rhetoric I've ever heard in a public area. According to them, the terrorist problems are caused by immigration and Australia shouldn't have bothered getting people out of Lebenon.
I guess now, looking back at it, I should have said something to them. But they weren't talking to me, and I depend on good reports from those people to get work, so at the time I felt like the best thing to do was to get out of the staff room before I lost my temper/teaching position. Good thing I had playground duty.
I just can't believe people still talk like that.
