I've just posted another essay (a short one this time) at [livejournal.com profile] new_atalanta - A Survey of Modern Girls' Fiction in which I discuss new trends in girls' fiction and what I call - The Buffy Phenomenon.

We're at 95 members over there - only 5 more to hit 100! It's a good, friendly community - which is quite active now both in the essays posted and the comments received. If you have interest in Girls Fiction come on over and join. Especially if you've got an interest in Sweet Valley or the Baby-Sitters Club - there's an exciting event coming up for these fans soon!

Have you ever read Animal Inn Series? I never read much other "girl fiction" unless it had a horse or animals involved in it.
I had forgetten all about that. Thanks for reminding me. I may reestablish my ownership of the books when I got home next.

Or some kind of carnage (LMM and Mary Grant Bruce excepted). Heh.

Im going to try to get a friend to join you community, she is a big Girls and horses book reader/collector.

I was the freak in my class that didn't read horse/animal books *g* I probably read a few Animal Inn books though - I devoured most of the school library.

The horse and animal books are a big part of girls' fiction - they're certainly written for a primarily girl audience. I don't think we've got too many fans at new atalanta yet - we'll have to recruit some so we can have some articles *g*

Shucks.. i better join then rather then being a vouyer. I was the freak in my class/s that did read girl books like SVH et. al. I devoured everything else in the library (or book-mobile). I did start reading LMM and MBG stuff until I was about 13 or 14 (when I got ill and desparate).

Im trying to get a friend to join up and then contribute stuff. She is a great writter of stuff.
