My Birthday
I had a great day on Thursday - thanks to all the people who wished me a good day. Matt and I spent some time in the city, then we went out to dinner with his parents and my family.

Present list

  • Ben Folds and the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra DVD (from Matt)
  • Jack Daniels with 2 lovely glasses (from Matt)
  • A bottle of diet coke and a rolling pin (from Matt - I actually need the rolling pin, so it was a good present *g*)
  • A Care Bears scrap book, candle and Boat People CD (from Jac)
  • A 6 pack of beer and a gift voucher (from Kate)
  • A lovely scrapbook (from Matt's parents)
  • FIREFLY on DVD!!!!!!! (from my parents)
  • Spooks threesome fic!!!!!!! (Ruth/Danny/Zoe - slight season 3 spoilers) from [livejournal.com profile] sangerin  (Go and read!! Now!!)

Yesterday was Jac's birthday, and we spent the day at the beach, leaving me with a rather lovely sunburn that has all but faded today.

And now for various end of year memes.

Best Film I saw in 2005
Hmm. I didn't see too many movies this year. I loved Harry Potter and Pride and Predjudice though.

Best TV show I watched in 2005
Spooks. It had me in tears 3 or 4 times over a 10 episode run. This show has only showed 26 episodes in Australia, yet I'm more invested in it than I was in West Wing or Buffy. This show owns me.

Best Book I read in 2005
I just finished the Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger which was pretty brilliant. Also the Cherub books by Robert Muchamore. And of course, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Best Album I listened to in 2005
Ben Folds Songs for Silverman. Mostly because I didn't listen to much else.

Best Concert I attended in 2005
Ben Folds as it was the only concert I went to

Best Fanfic I read in 2005
Seasons by Lizbee (Mary Russell), In Valparaiso with no Lonely Planet by Sangerin (Spooks) and a few other Spooks fics I can't recal right now.

Best Fic I wrote in 2005
Counting (Harry Potter) was the best received. But I love Darkness and Empty Eyes (Spooks)

Best Food I ate in 2005
My Tomato, Bacon and Basil tart. Rasberry Chocolate

All round best thing about 2005 on a personal front
Finishing university. Getting through prac. Pulling off the concert.

All round worst thing about 2005 on a personal front
The operation (just threw me out for the rest of the year), the interview for Education Queensland, being so sick on prac. The work I'm forced to do now.

All round worst thing(s) about 2005 on a less personal front
More natural disasters than any of us want to think about. More terrorism. The appalling behaviour by politicians around the world.

Person of the Year
Ian Frazer. Put everything on the line to develop a vaccine for cervical cancer.

Something 2005 should have taught you
You can always lose yourself in a good book

[14. ]Where did most of your money go?
Travellling to prac, on prac, text books, books and DVDs

[15.] What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Harry Potter (the book), finishing uni

What do I own that I can wear again. And what beautiful tops will Matt pick out for me (he chose 2 of my favourite tops this year)

[34.] What kept you sane?
Sane? My friends and Matt

[35.] Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hmm. Matthew McFadyen in PandP

I worked from 6pm through to 4.30am this morning. Then I had nightmares about coins. I'm back at work in less than 4 hours (at 12pm today), but I might quit before the day is out.
