Back at University
Aug. 19th, 2005 06:25 amSo, prac is completed, and I'm back at university - even if it is for only one day a week.
Subjects this semester are science, drama and art, and a weird form of educational philosophy/sociology that just seems to be against everything.
Science is the only class I'm doing internally and we had the three classes yesterday. The teacher for all three is incredibly enthusiastic about science, education and teaching education students, and is the first teacher I've had at the university who actually practices what he preaches. For example - he tells us that students like hands on work - and then he gives us fun science experiments to do. Even in the lecture there was participation.
My love for science education is great and encompassing.
Arts on the other hand is about to win the award for Most Disorganised Subject Ever. We're supposed to do the readings, but I actually haven't found them yet.
I've got some half written fic I really should polish, type and post . . . Spooks, Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, Harry Potter . . .

Advice? Do a double degree (say arts/education) if you want to do primary. It's the same 4 years as the plain education, but you are more employable by the end (just check the details - all the education courses seem to be changing at the moment)
Otherwise, plan your degree so you've got some cool electives at the end. All the 4 year students are so bored by the end of their course (us 2 year post grads are just overwhelmed *g*)
