Well I'm feeling a bit emotionally bruised at the moment.

I just got two letters from QUT telling me that, no, I won't be studying Education this year. Not because I didn't have the requirments, but because they don't have the places.

The due date to get my forms in is still two weeks away.

(This is a state where we are screaming for new teachers. I got an OP5, a 5.25/6 GPA, love working with kids and desperately want to be a teacher. And they don't have room for me - but they have room for some 17 year old who'll drop out in a few weeks)

Then I come online to be confronted with 100+ emails about the writing of HP slash - soon went into a slash discussion not about HP.

The thing that bugged me about this was the way that people jumped on this to attack those who write literary based fic.

I had a longer response to this, but I've meta'd enough.

I'm going to crawl into bed and have a good cry.

Melina, I'm so sorry! This is completely unfair, and a disgusting injustice on the part of QUT. I am absolutely furious.

I'm going to try. I'm also going to see if I can wrestle with QTAC and get into the four year course and then use all my UQ credits to get it down to two or three years.

Otherwise, I'll wait out the year, save some money and maybe do some volunteer work as a teacher's aide.

I've got a lot to figure out over the next couple of days.

Oh Melina. I'm so sorry...it's a trite thing to say, given the circumstances, but just remember everything happens for a reason. I will give you a huge hug when I see you next - I'm thinking of you, okay? Fucking stupid QTAC stuff.

It might seem like a trite thing to say, but the more I hear it, the more I can put my faith in it.

I'm trying to keep positive and upbeat. I'm really going to turn my direction towards working with children though - I know it's what I want to do so . . .

I'll just keep smiling!!

Hey Melina! Maybe we should get together sometime with a couple of bottles of (good) wine and plot the destruction of QTAC hey? Hell.. you just KNOW that there are going to be places galore about 3 weeks after the start of semester.. hell.. I was reading the other day that only 35% of Qld'ers finish university degrees.. I'm not sure whether it's accurate, but hell.. even if it's way off, that's still a HELL OF A LOT of places available to students..

Wanna help me firebomb their offices at Milton? (j/k)

bugger.. well, can we firebomb them AND QTAC? I'm sure Simon can get hold of enough Napalm for them both.. (providing you don't want to destroy every campus they have.. that might take a little more than we can get hold of..)
