[livejournal.com profile] lizbee and [livejournal.com profile] musesfool made appearances in my dream last night. I'm not sure what Liz was doing, but she was there. Victoria P. just kept saying "I love Aragorn" over and over again - but I can't remember what she looked like.

There was also my old house (which no longer exists) but it was set out like my Nana's old house and was flooded with really bright white light. And everything was painted white, but the paint was cracking.

Wierd.

Influential YA books.

This is supposed to be important books read before I was 12 - but I began reading adult novels when I was 10, and I'm still finding good YA books now, so . . .

Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta.
I only began reading this because it was written by someone called Melina (shallow, much?). But this has been a very important book to me, reread many many times (and the movie seen a good six or seven times - three in the cinemas). I especially love the part when Josie realises that she's more popular than previously thought, and the final confrontation with her grandmother.

Pastures of the Blue Crane by H. F. Brismead
A gorgeous coming of age story. I seem to find new things in this one every time I read it. I love the characters and they way they develop, as well as the way the different locations are defined - Melbourne as blustery and cold and dull, the NSW border towns (with Queensland) as green and luscious and hearty, and Surfers as this colourful alive town.

Anne of Green Gables books I adore these. I spent a large part of the last couple of years hunting them all down, so now I own the full collection!

Famous Five books My Grade One teacher handed me the first one to stop me from running circles around the class room. My first 'real' book. I've loved Enid Blyton ever since, particularly the Magic Faraway Tree series, the Galliano's Circus series, Amelia Jane, and the Boarding School series - Mallory Towers, St Clares and The Naughtiest Girl.

Tiger Eyes: Judy Blume. I got my copy of this book in Ithica, New York State (along with Anne of the Island). I can't remember exactly why it was so important to me, except that it was *g*

I know there's more, but I'll have to come back to them. I love kids books.

I hope I was cute.

And at least it was a relatively realistic version of me. *g*

Since I don't even know what you look like, we can just say it looked like you *g*
