This guy's running for parliment. He calls himself a Christian, but doesn't go to, or belong to a church. But he gets before a church crowd and says crap like this. They should have torn him to pieces.

To be fair, Howard distanced himself from that comment. I almost appreciated his comments at the end.

Of course, he'd want to distance himself from claims of being a Christian leader, what with how every church group in the country has condemned at least one of his policies in the last term.

I wish people would stop saying stuff like that... they make the sensible Christians (of whom there are so very few) look really really bad...

Now: a report on my ongoing election-apathy... I think Labour's school funding policy may have jolted me out of some of my apathy. I'm going to write a couple of letters this weekend - one an email to Latham pointing out that even though I can't vote for him first preference because of the Marriage Act, I do like his school funding policy and think it's wonderful, and secondly to the Moderator of the Vic UCA expressing yet again how uncomfortable I am with the UCA having schools.

Unfortunatley I have a feeling the schools policy will sink labour. Canada's looking good.

One of the richest schools in my area is UC run. It takes up almost three blocks, including a brand new sports complex. The school I do my prac at only had half an oval for three quarters of the year.

I think there's a lot of people who won't be impressed with schools whinging that they lose $3 million in funding. I think people might ask - why were they getting three million in the first place!

I honestly don't believe that not belonging to a church excludes you from identifying yourself as a follower of a certain faith. You can go to church all you like, it doesn't (or at least shouldn't) automatically make you Christian, or anything else. It just makes you someone who goes and sits in a building. There's a lot more to having faith than sitting in a building.
