I feel like I should be posting about exciting things, since I go back to uni again on Monday and I'll be boring once more. But I'm broke at the moment, just holding on to pay rent on Saturday, and I'm sitting at home, with all the curtains pulled closed trying to avoid the Jehovah's Witnesses who think they're my friend. They left me a book last time they were here (why am I so polite) which cast extreme doubts on their translation of the Bible and passed on their hatred of homosexuality. I had to read half of my Dorothy McRae-McMahon book to calm down afterwards.
(Should I read out loud from John Shelby Spong next time they visit? Or just throw their book at them and threaten to call the police next time they come? Or chant Hari Krishna at them?)
I hate being so negative about a religion, I have no problem with religious diversity and usually find different beliefs interesting, but they brought it to my house and won't go away!. If only Matt had been even ruder than he was first time they came.
In other news, I have a few half written stories to finish.

on 2004-07-13 04:33 pm (UTC)My old boyfriend in college once had the Jehovah's Witnesses drop by and he actually invited them in and served them coffee. While they were chatting, some Mormon missionaries knocked on the door, and he invited them in as well. Both sets of missionaries started a discussion that was getting more and more heated, while he sat there taking it all in. Suddenly they all stopped, gave him dirty looks, and walked out while he sat there smirking.
While I don't practice what I was raised in, that was one of the things I respected about it. Other than Reading Rooms and the occasional unattended free literature display, they do not proselytize. Very few people like having religion shoved in their face, unless they really enjoy arguing.
