Here's the first and last sentence/paragraph of my last ten finish and published stories, beginning with the most recent.
1. Every good Boy Deserves Fruit
F: Sam sits next to her and cracks his knuckles. One through ten, clunking solidly back into place with just the right amount of applied pressure.
L: She always says what she thinks they want to hear.
2. Tear Stains and Tooth Marks
F: They left Neville's body at the bottom of the Dungeon stairs.
L: She had left tear stains on his pillow and tooth marks on his shoulder.
3. Nice View of a Wall
F: She was sitting up when he returned, the sheet pulled close and wrapped around her.
L: The door slammed behind him and he bounded down the stairs.
4. Whisper and Whine
F: The sirens remain.
L: And there’s not a thing he can do to banish the sirens from his mind.
5. The Dark Room
F: She didn’t intend to find herself in the dark room.
L: “Enjoy the Leaving Feast, Lily.” He pauses at the door, looking at a point somewhere over her head. “And give my regards to Severus, will you?”
6. Wild Peaches
F: It didn’t seem right, but he discovered that all her curves fell in the usual places.
L: He watched her leave, watched the way people stopped as she walked past. He thought he could smell wild peaches.
7. Something Comfortable in an Unlit Room
F: She didn’t think he cared for her.
L: “Bye.”
8. Man Made Erosion
F: There’s a tear in her coat, just under the pocket.
L: There’s a tear in her blouse, near the bottom. He pulled it too hard when he was trying to remove it. She heard the material tearing, but was too drunk to care.
9. Welcome to Madness
F: Hawkeye slid a cup of coffee across the table. “Thick as mud and half as tasty. It should sober you up a little.”
L: “Can’t wait for that.”
10. Number Twelve
F: She likes to sit in the dark while she is thinking.
L: The count become twelve.
Hmm, that last story was published on the 19th September. Time to get writing again!
