Back to dancing today. I think I've got everything together. With any luck, numbers will be higher this year.

Tomorrow is the state election. I'm kinda sad it's almost over - apart from the ads (on both sides) it's been rather fun. Unfortunatly my seat (Stafford) is like one of the safest Labour seats ever, so there's been no campaigning by the other two candidates - I got my first piece of advertising yesterday, and mostly it just gave directions of where to go to vote. (And the Liberal candidate looks like one of my ex-boyfriends. Ugh)

But right next door is Clayfield and that's a good contest to watch.

I've been thinking about candidates and how the Beattie team had the advantage of a lot of sitting members running. That means that the National/Liberals have had to find more candidates which leaves a greater opening for 'bad eggs'. It seems like some rural areas have had problems with pre-selection, and the state leadership are forced to run around trying to fix up regional mistakes.

I was thinking about that while looking at the National candidate for Glasshouse. He's a building developer in a seat that includes Maleny, the most anti building town I know. My mother was also uncomfortable with some of the techniques he was using in his campaign, using his business (and discounts) to make him look good.

Glasshouse used to be a strong National area. Surely there are some good, strong candidates that wouldn't make people feel uncomfortable. The same in my area, where the Liberal candidate is a young student who hasn't been seen area.

Why aren't the best running? Are they waiting for 2007?
