We had
I started drinking before I left home, mostly because I thought it would be cheaper that way, and also because I was trying to get into party mode. Went out to Kate's where I feasted on her magnificent pasta and met her housemate, friends from uni and local random cat. All of which was very nice. Also gave Kate her present from me . . . a toaster! (Actually, the Once More With Feeling Soundtrack. Or a toaster for very thin slices of French Bread.)
Kate's Matt (aka Brad) met us there - before realising that he'd left his wallet in his sister's car. So Mike, Kate's housemate drove him to Kangaroo Point to get it, while the girls moved on into the city.
Met my Matt (he get's to keep his name because he's older. Alternately, the two Matt's and Jacinda's Aaron just want to be known as God) at the door to the Vic where we waited for other people to join us. Matt stole my phone and gave his best 'Attitude Girl' impersonation.
Stayed until just before 11 without buying one drink (thanks to the two Matt's and Kate) went back to Matt's place.
Matt drove me into the city this morning and from there I went to work. One of my workmates is impressed by the way I can screw things up and get away with it in front of the customers. I still say the bread slicer hates me.
Because Weaves did it, I thought I should do it too . . .
Ten things you may or may not have known about me - gacked from
1. I have a lot of irrational fears: hair dressers, doctors, dentists, optomotrists, heights, water (especially at the beach - big waves usually render me completely blind), losing things (including my sight and my health) and snakes. I'm not sure the last one is irrational though.
2. I still wish that I could be a ballerina and I've never wanted any other job with the same passion. I realised at 14 that I just wasn't good enough, but the thought still upsets me.
3. In my perfect world everything would be fair. I detest unfairness whether it be from the government or similar ruling body or from one person to another. Sometimes I still have to remind myself that life isn't meant to be fair.
4. I began using computers when I was three years old and dad had a Commodore 64. I'm almost totally self taught - usually from trial and error rather than reading manuals.
5. I didn't voluntarily wear jeans until 2001. Hipster jeans were my saviours because I actually liked the way they looked on me.
6. I quite like wearing glasses and I don't understand people who want to wear contcts all the time. I find contacts annoying, irritating and occasionally painful - mostly because I can't read or write when I'm wearing them. I do find that more people look me in the eye when I'm wearing contacts, but I'm not yet sure if I like that.
7. I'm ambivilant to my long hair. I keep it because I hate going to the hairdresser. I don't have to wash it as much as I did when it was shorter, and I don't usually spend much time styling it (I can plait my hair or tie it into a bun very quickly). It's currently the same length as it was in the beginning of grade twelve.
8. I'm fascinated by religions but am yet to find one that I would want to take an active part in. I consider myself a member of the Uniting Church because it's the only one I've ever been to and I agree with their social policy. I haven't been to a church service since 1995.
9. I don't have many close friends - just a lot of people I know whom I like. I detest losing friends and feel bad over it for years. I haven't had a 'best friend' since grade eight.
10. I sometimes think it would have been easier if Kate had been the older sister.
Must go. My grandmother's fish pond needs filling.
