Still waiting
Apr. 10th, 2003 09:28 amNo news from Coles Myer even though they're supposed to be emailing me. Did they read my email address wrong? (An easy mistake to make when you're writing it) Are the results not in yet? Did I fail miserably and they're not going to tell me?
Is it wrong to be pissed with a company before they hire you?
Part of the problem is that I've had the misfortune of only ever working for really screwed up companies. My first employer was big on the principle of 'punishing' you if you had to miss a shift. (ie. if you were sick of had previous plans) They also refused to restock things most of the time (have you ever tried cleaning a food court without a cloth? Or detergents, rubbish bags or mops?)
My second employer was trundling down the path of bankruptcy around the time I joined. Not having stock was a problem, but there was always a risk of having the 'heavy men' rough us up for money owing *g* Also, they could never quite manage the rostering, and we'd end up with mass resignations and little or no training.
So, when a company says they'll get back to you in to weeks, and you hear nothing, and you've had my experiance, it's easy to become suspicious and wonder about who's running the hiring.
In other words - especially after the magnificent display of how to hire that I saw last week - I'm a little peeved that they can't get their act together.
