Another episode. 2.3 this time. One of my all time favourite episodes.

2.3

Oh I adore this episode.

"That's teachers for you. Left for life, fascists in the staff room."

The thing I love about this episode is not only that Zoe becomes a teacher - she gets one of those moments every teacher dreams of - when the students actually listen and care.

Of course, before then she gets to go through supply teacher hell. I know her students are a couple of years older than some of mine, but good god have I been there. And the staff room politics - perfect.

Ruth continues to be eager. I continue to adore her.

The Danny and Zoe friendship continues to strengthen - love the way he reads her 'you're scratchy'. Also the brilliant scene with Tom. 'Any particular sweater in mind?' 'The blue one'

You need to trust Zoe's instincts! Go with the instincts!

I think I want MI5 surveillance on my classroom.

At times I wonder how much is Zoe the spy, trying to get into Blainey's good books, and how much is Zoe the wannabe teacher. Did she really need to take the kid home? She definitely didn't need to talk to the 'mother'

Love Danny calling the guy a 'paranoid twit'

"Do any of you people know what reality is?" And there is the centre of this episode - the tenuous link to reality so many people have. Tom anchors himself to his reality by 'confessing' to psycho!Vicki; Harry doubts the reality of Ruth, who uncovers the reality of the real attacker; the code names -Antony and Cleopatra - are a protection against reality; Noah has very little grip on reality, Blainey's reality is constructed for him; Zoe questions her real identity, and the school children discuss the reality of Dido's lyrics. Even the 'fake bomb' questions the reality they know.

Ruth saves the day! Yay!

"Where do we run, except inside ourselves" Oh, they're all so broken. I think if I had to show people one episode to explain Spooks, it would be this one. It just sums it up so perfectly.

This is totally one of my favourite eps too.

I also adore that scene with Tom, Danny and Zoe in their flat. Jut, love it. And, oh, they are all so very broken. *sniff*

I might have to watch this ep before I go to bed now. It's been so long since I watched my Spooks DVDs.

There's such a lovely relationship between the three of them - it's what makes the end of the season and the beginning of the next so very heartbreaking
