Well the butterflies went on pretty good -which I thought was just me - but even the really experienced teachers admittd they were nervous.

The beginning of the day was a little choatic. I was trying to get the work on the board - having just received chalk - when all these children, and their mothers and their fathers poured in. That classroom is really not meant to hold 50 odd people.

It's an interesting class of students with a HUGE range of abilties, and similar range of behaviour. I'm going to have to come up with strategies to keep girls from continually talking (and talking and talking), and to stop one child from destroying the classroom. (He began the day by claaing me bonyhead and continually chatting back. He followed it up by turning lights on and off all morning, throwing all the bags off the bag rack and running outside and dancing on a table outside another classroom.)

My planning worked fairly well - though there are several students who don't really belong anywhere near Year 4, which makes life difficult for the students who are up to standard. Today should be easier now that the students have a better idea of what they need to be doing each day.

Hopefully it will also be cooler today - it was sweltering in the classroom yesterday.
