Update on . . . cheese
Aug. 3rd, 2003 04:39 pmIt's been a few days since I last updated, so I thought I'd take time out of my week of hellish pain to tell you what's been happening. Most of it's passed with a very sore stomach and an embarrassing side effect of belching quite a lot. I can't wait for the hospital to ring about my referral.
But in other less painful news:
-Centrelink is screwing me around again. I got a letter telling me about an appointment because, despite my shiny job, I've been 'unemployed' for six months and the government has decided that I need intensive assistance. I couldn't make that appointment because my boss was away and I had to work. I rang the agency which deals with it four days before the appointment and they told me that I couldn't have the appointment moved to the day I'd arranged to have off work, but they'd send me a letter giving me two weeks notice for the next appointment. On Thursday they rang home and Matt told them I would ring back before 5.15pm. At 4.45pm I got home and rang them and the person was in a meeting. The receptionist said she would ring me back, which never happened.
Move to Friday morning in Beerwah when they finally rang my mobile. They said I had been flagged by Centrelink and I had to come to a meeting either Friday or Monday or I would lose my payments. I couldn't make it Friday since I was on the Sunshine Coast and I'm working Monday. So now I have to see them at 9.30am and just hope I can get from Chermside to work on time.
What really pisses me off is that last fortnight I got $27 of Centrelink and I'm going to spend at least $5 on bus fares to get to this interview. But if I tell Centrelink to get stuffed, I'll be in serious trouble when I start uni next year or if, for some reason I lose my job. (I'm going to ask if there's some way I can get rid of Centrelink without being penalised - but grr!)
-Dancing on Saturday morning was a scream. Two of the little girls, age five and almost three, were really excited because their Mum had a baby girl on Thursday. We were practicing a dance which needs the girls to make a circle holding hands, but they couldn't seem to get it. So I told them to skip around the room while I played music, and when I stopped the music they had to make a circle. I asked the older sister to grab the little sister's hand and make sure she got in the circle. So, I stop the music and about half the girls make a circle. But the younger sister has decided that running around the room with her sister in pursuit would be more fun, and the students who were in the circle decide that this is a good idea. The parents just cracked up and I was laughing so hard I couldn't see.
-Matt went to a party last night, but because alcohol is out at the moment and it was going to be a heavy drinking party, I stayed home. Cue drunken phone call at 10pm. Luckily I was up, compiling my Tearstains Universe Soundtrack.
-I'm watching Centre Stage at the moment, because one of my students wants to dance to the music from it. I'm seriously contemplating fan fiction. I could create a whole new fandom - dance movies. (Imagine the crossovers . . . *g*. Sara from Save the Last Dance steals Charlie from Centre Stage away from Jody, but it's okay because Jody's been in England meeting and getting on very well with a now grown up Billy Elliott . . .
